A Contemporary Take on the Form Watch

RAYMOND WEIL unveils the next evolution of the automatic freelancer collection, a new interpretation of the form watch, that elegantly transcends convention for women and men. These timepieces are reimagined for the modern individual, fusing a cushion-shaped design with signature brand details that radiate contemporary sophistication. A new collection that combines Swiss watchmaking know-how and innovation.

Form watches have a storied history, having gracefully adapted to various shapes and styles over the centuries. With a rich tradition of creative form watches for almost 50 years, RAYMOND WEIL has continuedly pushed the boundaries of design expression with collections such as Don Giovanni or Shine. Because breaking free from rules is in the brand’s DNA, the newest additions acknowledge this legacy of innovative design propositions while embracing the needs and desires of today’s discerning wearers.

Comprising two models, the freelancer ladies 2490 and men 2790, the independent brand has chosen a square, cushion-shaped housing. The edges of the case softly arc, imbuing the initially modern design with a gentle aesthetic. The various facets, lines and curves play with light, accentuating the beauty of the stainless-steel housing. Both models are offered with a choice of gradient dials and feature an automatic Swiss-made movement, with a 38-hour power reserve, ideally suited to daily wear.

With its stainless-steel square case of 34.5 mm, the freelancer ladies automatic 2490 features luminescent hour and minute hands with matching indexes, a fine centre seconds hand and a date indication at 3 o’clock. The dial’s intriguing gradient effect draws the eye towards the centre, where a captivating W-shaped motif, as a nod to the RAYMOND WEIL brand, adds depth and engages with light, creating subtle shades that mesmerize the wearer. A new leather strap adorned with an eye-catching W-shaped stitched pattern, further elevates the watch’s preciousness and adds a touch of exclusivity. Alternatively, the model is available with a 5-rows stainless steel bracelet and can be specified with a diamond set bezel, featuring 60 sparkling lab grown diamonds, striking a balance between elegance and durability.

Housed in a larger 40 mm square case, the freelancer 2790 for men allows the central W-shaped motif to step aside, letting the gradient dial and the in-house Calibre RW1212 take centre stage. The centre seconds hand and date indication make way for a mesmerizing mechanical dance as the tried and tested in-house automatic Calibre RW1212 movement reveals itself through an open worked bridge at 6 o’clock. This movement is not just a testament to RAYMOND WEIL’s watchmaking expertise but also a symbol of its commitment to crafting timepieces that stand the test of time. The balance gracefully oscillates, while the pallet lever engages in a rhythmic conversation with the escape wheel. A glimpse of the movement and the W-shaped oscillating weight can be admired through the exhibition case back.

The new freelancer collection is the perfect balance of tradition and modernity, showcasing RAYMOND WEIL’s unwavering dedication to craftsmanship and artistic expression. These watches are more than just timekeepers; they are a tribute to tradition, versatility and a bold statement of individuality.
